EasySplit® Application Instructions - 1 Hoop Method EasySplit Logo

Thank you for you interest in Dalco Easy-Split Designs. Easy-Split Design disks contain two stitch files, one for the left side of the design and one for the right side. If the split design is two-color, both colors of the left design are on one file and both colors for the right side are on the other file.

Note: When stitching split-front designs, precise registration is essential for a clean, professional look. We strongly recommend using a hooping board or device to assist in registration.

The success of the one-hoop option depends on the length of the name, the letter height, the placket width (the distance from the buttonhole to the edge of the shirt) and the size of your sewing field. For longer words or names, the two hoop method is the better sew out option.

Here’s how it works:

Keep in mind that the shirt, hooped in this fashion, must be sewn in a tubular manner.

1. Use a medium weight tearaway backing or pressure-sensitive (peel-n-stick tearaway).
2. Hoop unbuttoned shirt (fig.1) place the placket edges 1/4” apart in the hoop.
3. Load the hoop with the design in place onto the machine. Manually jog the hoop to position the active needle to the mark you made earlier (point A) - see the inside photo 1, where the upper left point of the lettering meets the placket edge. Start the machine. The machine will drop four registration stitches at point A and move down the edge of the placket to point B (illustration 1) and drop four more registration stitches. If these stitches do not align up properly with the shirt edge, adjust the shirt until they do. Back up the machine to repeat drop stitches again.

Note: The initial positioning is critical in setting your machine for additional shirts. Take the time to do it correctly.

4. The machine will sew an outline stitch for placement of the design on both sides (fig.2).
5. Position the design in the outline using spray adhesive or an appliqué iron (fig.3). A two color design will repeat the process.
6. After the design is finished and the backing removed, we recommend heat pressing the design to seal the adhesive to the garment - 330° - 350° F for 15 seconds.
